Stray Dog Freedom

Hello everyone! I'm so happy that the weekend is completely over! I know that sounds strange, but I always work the weekends and usually during the week I have my free days. Plus, on top of it, I was really sick all weekend, so sick I called out of work for the first time. (and I have been there 3 years!) Thankfully I feel a lot better now and I don't work again till Saturday, so I have lots of time to spend and relax with Brian!

Today we went on a long walk on a trail called Hyper Humis with my dog Slinky and it is amazingly gorgeous. It's a trail that is lined with all different beautiful wild flowers and even opens up to a land bridge! It was truly incredible to be walking with water on both sides of me! I was also very excited because I received both a new purse and dress yesterday in the mail! Brian was sweet enough to buy me this dress from Ruche, and I used an awesome 15% discount on this purse from Spotted Moth (which is absolutely lovely in person!)

This post is really image heavy (sorry!). But today it was too nice out and so many pictures came out awesome.

Dress- Ruche ; Tights- Kohls ; Shoes- Urban Outfitters ; Purse- Spotted Moth.

This is my little angel faced puppy, Slinky. Well - he's not really a puppy, he's actually 12 and a 1/2 years old! But he is still the most energetic dog. He was loving this long walk, I rarely take him out places like this so it was a special treat!

This is the amazing land bridge (with my two favorite boys!). I mean we have all been on land with water between but this strip of land was so small and the shore came right up to the grass line. It was beautiful. Slinky enjoyed splashing in the water and exploring all over.

It really was a fun time. Brian and I need to find more awesome secluded places like this to take long walks with our dogs! After this we went to a place called Everything Homemade where they have the most amazing cannolis! I obviously got one of those and a delicious strawberry smoothie, and we sat at a cute picnic table with Slinky while multiple families and little kids ran up to give the 'weiner dog' a visit. Hah. It's so funny how popular Slinky is when I bring him out places, I guess it's because he's so unique looking with his long body and his cute puppy face. I have just seen him everyday since I was 9 so sometimes I forget what an adorable little dog he really is.

Well now I am off to spend more much needed time with my Brian! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Sweet Road

Hi everyone! I'm so very happy I have the day off today. Finally! Although I had to work yesterday too, it actually turned out to be a fun day. Since Brian and I both worked by the time we were both out it was after 10 PM. But instead of what usually happens (making tea then just watching lots of late night tv and talking) we decided to be daring and go night swimming. It was so hot earlier that the water in my pool was slightly cooler than a hot tub and it was so fun. We then got some late night McDonalds (My bad habit) and stayed up late talking. It was so relaxing and made it really start to feel like summer! Today it was beautiful out also, but we both had off so of course that means outfit pics!

Shirt & Cardigan- Marshalls ; Skirt- Urban Outfitters ($10 on sale!) ; Belt- Charlotte Russe ; Key Necklaces- Gifts ; Ring- My Grandma's.

I can't believe this skirt was $10. It was originally a $60 skirt! My only dilemma was I had no idea what to wear it with, but turns out it's a lot more versatile than I thought! I love the lavender color, I barely have any purple clothing.

In other news I am very excited because today Brian and I also made tattoo appointments! (I know some of you may not like tattoos, and I respect your opinions, so please respect mine.) Considering the one I already have is hidden I didn't figure any of you knew I even had one! I don't know if I have ever mentioned it, but I have a slight peacock obsession, and I have had it for a while, so therefor I have a peacock feather on my ribcage. (Picture below!) It has been a year since I have gotten my first tattoo and I can't wait to get my next one! I think I'll leave it a surprise as to 'of what and where', but I will definitely do a post on it after my appointment on the 15th of June!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

No One Would Riot for Less

Hi everyone! So lately I have been super busy, if I wasn't at work I was working on my dresser project which in total took probably over 7 hours. I was hoping to do an outfit post today, but that will have to wait till tomorrow since I unexpectedly had to work the morning, and Brian has to work the night - therefor no time for pictures ): But since the dresser is completely finished I wanted to show all of you! I am very very excited about it, mainly because of the cuteness factor.

Here's a recap of the dresser after removing the drawers, pretty much at blank slate stage.

and then we turned it into an adorable little cat cottage!

Isn't it just adorable? I'm so proud of my sewing skills too ha, I used no reference and made the cushion and curtain as I went. (Aren't the fabrics so cute?! I just love fabric). I'm not tooting my own horn or anything, but I've gotten pretty good at re-doing furniture, as has Brian. I have also re-done a bookcase and recovered my computer chair. (I'll post pictures of those below!)

Since I want everyone to be able to do these kind of fun things I'll give you a few tips on re-doing furniture.

1. This dresser was completely free, picked it up off the side of the road. In the past I would not have been comfortable doing this, but to be honest I would rather get something for free than pay for it and then pay to re-furbish it. I suggest when wanting to re-furbish something go for either really cheap yard sale furniture, furniture being thrown out (yet salvageable), or something you already own that really needs a refresher. Never buy something expensive then re-do it, what a waste!

2. Think outside the box, just because it's a dresser doesn't mean it has to stay that way, sometimes you can come up with the coolest ideas if you just sit on it for a bit (aka cat cottage!!)

3. You don't have to buy any fancy paint to re-do furniture, Brian and I just purchase regular wall paint, the flatest, cheapest one. It's about $8 for a quart which is all you need. But before you paint make sure you either prime, or sand (which is cheaper) the surface, and then coat the hole thing in a polyurethane (mini wax), which is also only $8 (but comes in a much smaller container, which has more than enough since you only put on thin coats)

4. Don't expect everything to run smoothly. Many a time I have come up with ideas and then when actually trying to execute them they don't work at all, or they are much harder than they have to be. For instance, when I did my bookcase, I wanted fabric-ed shelfs and back but actually using fabric would be too difficult so instead I bought 20+ sheets of really pretty scrapbook paper and spray adhesived-them on. (So far no rips and it's been over 6 months!)

These are my other projects!

(Used to be a black bookcase that you put together yourself from Walmart)

(Computer chair from when I was around twelve, used to be bright blue with netting, horribly tacky.. Covered in toile fabric, and I also made that pillow which my dog now uses as his bed haha)

I hope you guys like this sort of stuff because I want to share it with you more often haha! If you have ever re-done anything I would love to hear about it/ see it! That kind of stuff is awesome to me, that's why I am such a Design*Sponge stalker I supppose!

Have a great day everyone!

Driftwood: A Fairy Tale

Hi guys! First off I wanted to say Happy Memorial Day to all my American readers! I hope you are enjoying a nice relaxing day in the sun!! I was really excited to do a post with this dress, since it's so simple, yet so unique. Plus the fact that I feel like Belle from Beauty and the Beast while wearing it! It was actually just shipped to the store while I was shopping with my mom and the girl handed it to me and told me to try it on. I got so lucky, because I doubt I would have been able to get my hands on it otherwise!(They only get one time shipments of clothes and then they are gone!) I decided to go with another field shoot (in a different field), because wearing this dress makes me want to break out into Belle's song from the beginning of the movie!

Dress & Bandeau- Francesca's Collection ; Belt- Urban Outfitters ; Shoes- Target ; Necklace- Gift.

Isn't the detailing on this dress amazing? I don't think they could have made prettier crocheted flowers! (LOL at the fly on my arm who had to get his 1 minute of fame!)

I wanted to say I appreciate your sweet comments on my little nesting doll I made! I'm glad you like her since I will be creating another one for my giveaway! I hope to post some sewing tips/projects and all different sorts of crafty things on here along with my outfit posts! Thank you all for supporting this blog! Have a great rest of your memorial day!

Weekend Update!

Hi guys! This weekend so far has been working and cleaning, and more working etc. This means no real posts this weekend, but I do have some semi-exciting things to share with you guys!

I wasn't planning on having another outfit post until Tuesday, since I was supposed to be going white water rafting with my friend. After telling me last minute it was going to be around $100 for both Brian and I, I decided against it. Way too expensive when I'm trying to save for so many things. Therefor an outfit post for you Monday! I am also very excited because the other day I found an awesome chest on someone's curb that was begging to be re-furbished by myself. Since I'm guessing most of you don't know me all that well - I love crafting, and I love re-doing furniture. Taking a powersander to an old cabinet is so glorifying. Anyways I should have been less anxious in ripping off the doors of the cabinet because I don't have a picture of the original, but this is the current state of the chest-

I'm hoping by Monday/Tuesday I will have it completely re-done. I'm not going to say what I'm going to do to it, but my style is very Vintage/French Country if that's any hint!

I've also decided that once I have hit the upward of 50 followers (I feel as though I've hit a lull in my amount of followers! D:), I'm going to start doing Blogger's of the Month! In order to qualify for this, you would need to be following my blog, and to submit it to me at beeswithfeathers@yahoo.com. But I will post most on that later. Also when I hit over 150 followers I have decided to do a giveaway! As I said before, I love crafting, and sewing so I have decided to do a giveaway of some things I will make special for the giveaway, possibly including some things such as little stuffed nesting dolls and pretty buntings!

I am extremely excited to share all of the above goodies with you, and I hope you enjoy my sharing my projects with you, because I'd like to do that a lot more with you all in the future, since art is my first love!
Have a great rest of your weekend!

Springtime out the Van Window

Okay, so I lied, I didn't get an outfit post in yesterday. But I have completely valid reasoning! It was downpouring, like bucketfulls of rain, and I was at work when it was semi-decent out before that. Therefor I felt completely un-enthused to try to take pictures inside. I think the outdoor ones are so much prettier. Although it was raining, Brian and I got really delicious Thai food yesterday, and took a trip back up to the mall where I got this amazing shirt and scarf (which was 40% off!!). Today we took these in a field near the farm I live by. Its the most secluded perfect place. It's high up and it drops off really steep off the side, and the view is amazing. I wish the sun was out more, but we made do.

Cardigan, Shirt & Scarf- Francesca's Collection ; Shorts- Marshalls ; Belt- Gap ; Shoes- Aldo ; Ring- Pier 1 Imports (weird right?).

It actually makes me laugh that this ring was from some place so random. I had been looking for just a cheap plastic flower ring everywhere, but I couldn't find it. Almost all the rings I found were obnoxiously big, but this one was perfect!

Isn't the detailing on this scarf amazing? In itself, it's an awkward scarf, because it is a continuous loop (it's called the infinity scarf), but I made do because the lace is so gorgeous and wore it almost in a necklace fashion.

I don't know about you but the feeling of putting on a brand new, amazing quality cardigan is amazing. And the color of this cardigan was a must have for the pretty spring weather.

Sorry my post was a day late, hope it was worth the wait! Have a wonderful day everyone!
